Critical Tablet Compression Machine Parts: Must Know to Optimize Tableting Process

There are various parts and components of tablet press machines on the market. It is critical to know about tablet press machine parts in the tablet manufacturing process. A tablet packing machine is one of the most important equipment that can help you in the production and finishing of your company’s tablets. If you want to learn about a tablet packing machine, you must first learn the parts of the machine.

1. Tablet compression machine hopper

Hoppers are made to temporarily hold raw materials before they are converted into die cavities. Like the main part of the tablet press, the simplest hoppers attached to a single die press are common. They have the same function we use to fill our kettles at home. However, to meet tablet manufacturing requirements, the funnels are usually stainless steel instead of plastic. This trumpet-shaped funnel is easy to fill during use, but it is not suitable for further mixing of raw materials. Inadequately mixed powder always causes problems in monitoring the pressing process, so mixing the powder by hand or using a mixer is always the first step in raw material pretreatment before moving the ingredients to the hoppers.

2. Feeder System

A feeder system is of the Critical Tablet Compression Machine Parts. It is required when hoppers fail to put powered material into die cavities. The feeding system includes several components, the most important of which are the feeding box and food trays. Powder flows in the feed box after filling the dome. That is why it is often made of stainless steel. This gives the powder a buffer zone before entering the compression zone. The feed sides are the secret of the precision and consistency of the powder poured into the cavity of the die.

3. Tablet Press Puches

Plate compression dies can be divided into two categories – top dies and bottom dies. These parts of the tablet press are crucial during pressing. In different tablet presses, the functions of these dies are quite different. The compression phase of a single die requires only that top die to move. Therefore, it is called a single-punch tablet press, even though it has multiple upper and lower punches. Rotary tablet punch sets work differently. Punch sets ensure consistent strength during compression processing.

4. Tablet Press Die System

A tablet press has one or more die cavities to hold the powder and they are all called a tablet die system. Together, they work with other parts of the tablet press during the main process. Dies grooves are die cavities. They determine the depth and shape of the tables. The most common dies are conical and straight dies. Conical dies ensure air escape and straight dies distribute less powder during pressing.

5. Tablet Press Turrent

The Turrent of the tablet press is one of the Critical Tablet Compression Machine Parts. It is only visible on rotary tablets. The turret helps to precisely connect the compressed parts. Rotational speed also limits board production cph (computers per hour). Therefore stability is the most important feature of a tower.

6. Tablet Press Cam Tracks

Cam rollers are another unique tablet press component in rotary tablet presses. Unlike single-injection tables, rotary tablet presses must constantly roll the dies up and down. Cam tracks allow dozens of dies to be processed in the correct sequence. The rotary tablet press has three types of nozzles: top nozzle, bottom nozzle and discharge nozzle. The top cam controls the rise of the top dies, leaving enough room for the feed system to add raw materials. The lower cam directs the lower dies to move down to make room for the powder in the cavities. The output cam pushes the compressed tablets onto the mold surface and the bottom cam retracts the bottom punches in preparation for the next round.

7. Tablet Press Filling Station & Weight Control

The filling station regulates the amount of powder in the dies using a weight control system. After adding the raw material to the die cavities, the lower dies pass the weight control module. The die cavities are overfilled at this point, so the filling station pushes the overweight powder onto the surface of the mould to ensure that each nozzle cavity holds the same amount of powder.

8. Compression Rollers

Most tablet presses have two rollers. They provide holes with hydraulic pressure to achieve the pressing process. Compression Roller removes air from the powder. This step is important for the quality of the tables. Next, main pressure rollers compress the powder into tablets. Pre-compression uses little force, while main compression provides more force. Therefore the pre-press rolls are much smaller than the final rolls.

9. Ejection System

The ejection or removal system can remove the pressed final tablets from the machine and take them to the next packaging process. The ejection nozzle can guide the bottom die to move up, helping your tablets push out of the nozzle hole or cavity after compression. After the tablets are compressed and formed, they are slowly and gradually removed by an ejector. The ejector blade helps push the compressed and separated tablets into the ejector chute. After the tablet is ejected from the die, it is guided by the machine by an ejector blade into the tablet discharge chute.

10. Discharge Chute

The Discharge Chute is one of the most Critical Tablet Compression Machine Parts. It is mainly used to direct the tablets into the collection bucket or collection box. After the tablets come out of the die cavity, the discharge slide directs the tablets one by one to the collection box to complete the tablet production process. Finished tablets also undergo batch-by-batch quality control.

Conclusion

In the above context, we discussed Critical Tablet Compression Machine Parts that are essential during tablet manufacturing. These Critical Tablet Compression Machine Parts play a vital role and are important for tablet manufacturing. It is to be noted that pharmaceutical has more parts as compared to tablet press machines designed for R&D or clinical trials.
